Stunning is the word. If there is a great change, it is Beyonce's new image/album/makeover, whichever you would want to refer to it as. I'm not sure if I had been too overtly sensitive towards such changes, but the boundaries in which she is pushing is incredible. I mean just look at the album cover! Her recent artistic deliveries had been verging on some form of neo-classic embodiment of sex and grandeur.
And there's that new single that was out - Countdown! It's just plain genius, and I seriously contemplate the incredible talents behind it's production. It sounded invariably random, and yet, there's that song, that music that people can relate to!
And going with that video - with that whole plagiarism shit going on that everyone's talking about. I would only say that "great minds think alike" and are we not all products of inspiration? What I can say is that if Beyonce had inserted elements of my (hypothetical) production in hers, I'll be fueled even greater to work! It means whatever I'm doing, I'm doing it right!
Well, I can imagine the frustration tho, but lets focus on the brighter side. I think there is ought to be overlaps in today's creative world. It is undeniable because there's is so MANY materials out there, and to be honest, there is perhaps only a few POP cultures! I'm not gonna use that word - plagiarism - but rather, I'd say - sampling. Or learning.
Did the Samsung Galaxy not LEARN from the IPhone? Ok bad example there, IPhone users are gonna bash me real bad. But think about it, it's the genius of Steve Job's vision that brought the world to such a revolutionary state! It is entirely possible to learn from one another, but to innovate and improvise upon one idea takes another level of courage and dare.
But really now. Let's just admire Beyonce's video and her music shall we?
And let's be fair and Google for the Belgian choreographer Anne Teresa De Keersmaeker, who claims to be the genius behind the dance choreography. Judge it for yourself!
